Practical security for organizations without a security department
Ransomware and email fraud hit small and mid-sized Canadian organizations every week. We put proven controls in place, watch them around the clock, and help you respond when something gets through.
What's included
- 24/7 managed detection and response (MDR) on every laptop and server, backed by a staffed security operations centre
- Microsoft 365 hardening: MFA everywhere, conditional access, legacy authentication blocked, and mailbox auditing
- Advanced email filtering with impersonation protection and link rewriting
- Monthly security awareness training and phishing simulations, with reporting by department
- External and internal vulnerability scanning, with remediation tracked in our ticket system
- Privileged access management and local admin removal
- Incident response retainer: containment, investigation and recovery led by our team
- Readiness support for the CyberSecure Canada program and cyber insurance questionnaires
Know where you stand
Every client gets a security scorecard measured against the CIS Critical Security Controls, reviewed quarterly so progress is visible to leadership.
Breach obligations, handled
If an incident involves personal information, we help you assess the real risk of significant harm and prepare the notifications required under PIPEDA, PHIPA or Québec Law 25.
Insurance-ready
MFA, EDR, immutable backups and training are what insurers ask about. We document them so renewals go smoothly.
What happens during a security incident
Detect
An alert fires on a device or account. Our SOC partner triages it within minutes, at any hour.
Contain
The affected device is isolated from the network and compromised accounts are locked, often before anyone notices.
Investigate
We establish what happened, what was accessed and whether personal information was involved.
Recover
Devices are rebuilt, data is restored from clean backups, and you get a written report with lessons learned.
Questions about cybersecurity
Is antivirus enough?
Not anymore. Modern attacks use legitimate tools and stolen passwords that traditional antivirus does not flag. MDR combines behavioural detection with people who investigate and respond.
We are small. Are we really a target?
Most attacks are automated and opportunistic. Attackers look for missing MFA, unpatched devices and staff who click, not company size. Small organizations are often hit precisely because they are easier.
Can you help if we are not a client and have been breached?
Yes. Email john@mspforcanada.com with "Incident response" in the subject line. We will scope the work with you before anything is billed.
